Buyer's Digest

Use this page as a product-first sourcing checkpoint before sending an RFQ. Category: Cnc Machining Centers. Confirm application fit, capacity, materials, destination, lead time and compliance requirements before comparing suppliers.

Original product description

Cermet inserts are an excellent choice for high speed finishing of steels, cast irons, and some difficult-to-cut materials, offering excellent surface finish and dimensional accuracy. They are sensitive to impact and vibration and are not suitable for roughing or interrupted cuts.

Under rigid, continuous cutting conditions with appropriate parameters, they far outperform cemented carbide.

Properties, Advantages & Disadvantages of Cermet Property Advantages Disadvantages Hardness & Wear Resistance High hardness (HRA 91-94), better wear resistance than cemented carbide - Toughness Better toughness than pure ceramics Relatively brittle, poor impact resistance , prone to chipping;not suitable for heavy loads or interrupted cutting Chemical Stability Low affinity for iron , reduced BUE and built-up edge, excellent surface finish - Hot Hardness (Red Hardness) Maintains high hardness at 800-1000°C, suitable for high-speed and dry cutting Generally not recommended for materials harder than HRC 40 Uncoated Cermet Inserts Coated Cermet Inserts
